Nice France 2016

General - The flight and Stay
The following account covers a good three and a half day trip to Nice, France from Thursday to Sunday early September 2016 - the ticket was bought few days before the trip with Wow air and the flight was a convenient 4 hours flight leaving late afternoon and arriving in the evening. Return flight is late evening and thus giving us three whole days to explore Nice.  This is based on our personal experience and some information gathered from the locales themselves. France has 65 million inhabitants, of which there are around one million living in the city of Nice.

Travel Story – Overview
Staying and spending two days in the city center then renting a car for a road trip to the French Rivera among else to Monaco. A remarkable few reminders can be seen about the terror attack this summer yet it is surprising that there are very few policemen or soldiers who are visible in the area. As a matter of fact, people of non-Caucasus origin like from the Arabic countries were rarely visible.

Accommodation
We stayed at a three star hotel, Hotel Oasis, location is fine which takes around 10-15 minute walk to the city center beach. The standard room is small but we had a double superior room for around 90 Euros a night excluding breakfast. Breakfast costs 15 euro per person. Overall, it was an ok value for the money, mainly maybe because the staff were friendly and helpful. Another option we looked at for our readers which gives a better value for the money are the two-three star hotels near the train station. Those hotels are in city center as well, but is a residential area, where you see and meet a lot of the locales.

What we did
Day one.
Walked around town, strolled at the beach and took the hop on, hop off tour (22 E), which is highly recommended as a quick and convenient way to see the city in its 14 stops. Mostly serene sceneries and beautiful buildings. Also, the Visitor guide had a very nice 10 E haircut.

Day two.
Explored the city center and the main shopping street, where you can buy some good deals in Bersha shop, offering stylish clothes for a good money value.  Avisit to the beach for some sunbathing and swimming. Took a walk in the rustic old town, where there are many tourists and took advantage of the happy hours.

Day three.
Rented a car a from Sixt at the train station and drove east to the mountain village Eze (around 30 minutes from Nice), with its captivating scenery over the ocean and bay. Drove around 20 minutes further to the small and somehow porch state of Monaco. A worth side trip making it the 51th country the author visited. Took lunch there and enjoying the view of the luxury boats, yachts and buildings. Drove back to the beach village of Eze with its beautiful beach – better than the one in Nice. It was also recommended by a locale to visit some “typical countryside“ villages a little northwest of Nice, unfortunately time did not allow us to do so.

Overall this was a very pleasant trip for a little break, beach, shopping, sightseeing and more and the city can be recommended.
